Most of you are probably counting down to Christmas, but I’m focusing on an entirely different countdown these days. That’s because my second book is going to be released in January!
Even though an exact launch date hasn’t been set just yet, I am definitely in the home stretch. All of the writing is done, the final round of proofreading is being done as I type this, and I’ve been spending most of the week looking at cover designs. In just a few short weeks, Diamond Geezer will officially be ready for readers!
But if you think that I’m cool, calm, and collected about the whole thing because I’ve been through this once before, think again! Sure, launching Dangerous opened my eyes to a whole new world, but even having that experience under my belt doesn’t mean I’m butterfly-free these days. No matter how many books I’m lucky enough to launch, I think there is always going to be some degree of nerves mixed with excitement during the home stretch.
If nothing else, the home stretch means I’m officially turning my idea into something concrete, something everyone can experience, and something that people are going to spend their hard-earned money on. All of the thoughts that rattle around in my head during those walks with the dog are finally coming to light. My characters and I are getting ready to embark on a new journey, and there’s so much anticipation. I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve, constantly looking at the clock, checking to see if it’s time to open my presents yet.
There’s nothing quite like the home stretch of a new book… Now if only my Christmas shopping was in its home stretch! Looks like I’ll at least have that to keep me busy while I wait for launch day!
