I’ve been saying for months that it feels like time is flying by. After all, I’m getting ready to launch my second book. This time last year, I had just launched Dangerous and was in the midst of so many things!
But I’m hoping time slows down a little bit right now so that I can make the most out of the Christmas season!
My Christmas tree is officially up and ready for Santa and his reindeer. No matter how old I get, I still think back fondly to Christmases past — back when I had Mum and Dad to celebrate with. I can still hear all of the happy sounds of a house full of family, friends, and neighbors. Every time a Christmas song pops up on the radio, it takes me back to the old days — back when I was so excited to see new clothes, a new coat, and new shoes under the tree.
If I close my eyes, I can even picture that one Christmas when my brother, Johnnie, had a little TOO much fun at the pub. As the family sat around enjoying a beautiful dinner, Johnny fell asleep with his face in his food! (Good thing Santa had already come. Otherwise, Johnnie might have ended up on the “Naughty” list!)
These days, things are a little calmer. I get to watch my grandkids stare in amazement as the tree goes up, but best of all, I get to soak in all of the things that REALLY represent Christmas — the loving, the giving, the sharing, and the gratitude.
So, as you fight for a parking space at the mall or claw your way to the clearance racks, take some time to enjoy all of the things that Christmas is about. One whiff of that Christmas tree smell, and you’ll be just as content and sentimental as I am!
