Have you ever thought about how convenient today’s technology is? I rely on my iPhone for all kinds of vital stuff – from waking me up in the morning, to keeping track of my daily to-do list, to making random notes as I have random thoughts, to logging into Facebook on the go and chatting with all of you. Odds are many of you are just as “technology-dependent” as I am.
So, you can imagine the all-out panic that took place when I lost my phone while on a walk with the dogs!
Sound the alarm! Mayday! SOS!
After hurrying back home, I rang my phone to see if — by some miracle — someone answered it. All of a sudden, I heard a gentleman’s voice. He explained that he had found my phone, and it was safe and sound.
Instantly, the shrieking alarms going off in my head quieted down, and I could hear the soothing sound of harps playing up in the heavens. I went from completely panicked to totally relaxed after a brief conversation with a stranger. Isn’t life funny that way?!
I know I was one of the lucky ones. There are a lot of lonely, owner-less smartphones lurking out there – and a lot of smartphone owners who felt lost for a whole lot longer than I did!
So, if you’ve ever lost your phone, rest assured you have my sympathies. For a little while, the thought of living phone-less was far scarier than anything my book editor could tell me!
