You know that old song by Ella Fitzgerald, where she sings “Summertime, and the livin’ is easy” in that one-of-a-kind soulful voice? Well, I don’t know how “easy” my summertime has been so far (How easy can things be when you’re trying to finish up your second book?!). However, my summertime livin’ has definitely gotten off to a great start!
I ended the month of May with a book signing. The sun was shining, the weather was warm, and everyone was raving about Dangerous. How can it get any better than that?
It actually did!
Amidst all of the fun, I got to meet a whole new group of people that I would never have known if I hadn’t written Dangerous. For me, that’s one of the best parts of being an author – meeting new friends! (And, of course, hosting a book signing provides the perfect excuse to reunite with old friends. Sometimes, it’s like going back in time!) I truly appreciate all of your kind words… I’m even getting used to the Facebook and Twitter lingo, so thanks for all of the “likes”!
Even though my schedule sometimes leaves my head all over the place (having a second book in the works and a third one planned for 2014 will do that to you!), the entire experience feels like a dream. I’ve wanted this life for so long, and now it’s HERE!
I’m also learning more and more about myself every day. I feel like I’m becoming a pro at handling distractions, meeting deadlines, and keeping myself organised. I’m even getting more adept at the marketing!
It just goes to show you – you’re capable of great things, so go out and do them! The hard work may not make your summertime livin’ quite so easy, but it will definitely be a great ride!
