Right now, it’s easy to keep track of everything I should be grateful for. After all, Dangerous has finally been released to the public, and in the process, I’ve made one of my lifelong dreams come true. And as an added benefit, I get to spend my time meeting all kinds of interesting new people while I’m out promoting and talking about my book. Does it get any better than this?!
But my life wasn’t always this rosy.
In fact, just a few short years ago, I was feeling down and out. So, on the advice of a friend, I created a “Gratitude List”. For a few minutes each day, I jotted down everything I had to be thankful for. It didn’t take me long to realise that I was so bogged down in the every-day rollercoaster of life that I had forgotten about all of the good things – especially the little things!
That’s why I think it’s so important that you try it for yourself!
Maybe you smiled because your neighbor gave you a cheerful “good morning” as you picked up the newspaper. Or, maybe you’re grateful for the yummy food on your dinner table. Maybe you’re just grateful for meeting your significant other because he’s so sweet on a random Tuesday afternoon.
Your Gratitude List really can be this simple!
So, spend a few minutes writing down whatever made you feel grateful through your day. It won’t take long for you to start focusing on what you DO have, rather than what you DON’T have. Soon, you’ll look at life with the glass being half-full. That mindset alone can give you more energy, more to look forward to, and even a better sense of empathy.
Doesn’t that sound a whole lot better?!
